Leadership development
A containing and thoughtful leadership is crucial to the effective functioning of an organisation or work team. Marie’s work involves helping people and organisations develop a more self aware, ‘engaging’ and effective leadership where individuals are encouraged to examine how they take up their role and explore their personal and organisational authority. Her current work includes working with the Scottish Social Services Council on succession planning within organisations across Scotland. Last year, she was a member of the Stirling University team (led by Frances Patterson, Department of Applied Social Science), which had been commissioned by the Scottish Social Services Council to explore leadership development across Scotland’s social services and to identify gaps and development needs. The report on this work, Leading Together, is now available, with additional background reports on the SSSC website and can be accessed here.

Marie is an Associate of Real World Group (RWG), the internationally renowned centre of excellence in leadership development (www.realworld-group.com), led by Professor Beverly Alimo-Metcalfe, and works with them on a range of leadership development initiatives in UK public sector organisations. Marie is accredited to deliver the RWG TLQ 360 degree leadership feedback instrument.

In the University sector, Marie has worked as an Associate of the Department of Applied Social Science, Stirling University, for 4 years, working with them on their MSc in Social Services Leadership and other leadership development programmes - all of this work has received excellent evaluation. She also played a key role in the delivery of a local government leadership development programme awarded a Silver Excellence in Workforce Development Award by the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities,
